CHO-K1 IndMUC16ecd is an IndEx-2 stable cell line inducibly expressing the extracellular domain of MUC16 (amino acids 13,785-14,507).

IndEx-2 is RoukenCells' proprietary inducible expression system that enables precise, dose-dependent control of one or two target antigens within your chosen cell line. Using orthogonal chemically induced proximity switches, antigen expression can be independently tuned across a biologically relevant range, creating custom cell models for target validation, assay development and therapeutic screening.

Target Information and Further Details
MUC16, encoded by the MUC16 gene on chromosome 19p13.2, is a high–molecular weight transmembrane mucin glycoprotein and a major component of the epithelial glycocalyx. It is best known as the source of the cancer antigen CA125, widely used as a biomarker in ovarian cancer. Structurally, MUC16 consists of a large extracellular domain with tandem repeat regions, a transmembrane segment, and a short cytoplasmic tail that mediates intracellular signalling.

Physiologically, MUC16 contributes to epithelial barrier function and protection against pathogens on mucosal surfaces such as the respiratory and reproductive tracts. In cancer, overexpression and altered glycosylation of MUC16 promote tumourigenesis through enhanced cell adhesion, immune evasion, and activation of signalling pathways including JAK/STAT and PI3K/AKT. MUC16 overexpression is characteristic of ovarian, pancreatic, and breast carcinomas and is associated with poor prognosis.

The CHO-K1 IndEx-2 cell line expresses the extracellular domain of MUC16, corresponding to amino acids 13,785-14,507.
