Target Information and Further Details
FCRL5 is an immunoglobulin superfamily receptor encoded by the FCRL5 gene on chromosome 1q21. It is predominantly expressed on mature B cells and plasma cells and contains both activating (ITAM-like) and inhibitory (ITIM) signalling motifs, suggesting a role in fine-tuning B-cell activation and differentiation.

In multiple myeloma, FCRL5 is highly expressed on malignant plasma cells, correlating with disease burden and progression, while showing limited expression on most normal tissues. This selective expression makes FCRL5 an attractive therapeutic target. Ongoing strategies include CAR-T cell therapies and bispecific antibodies designed to engage FCRL5, with the goal of eliminating malignant plasma cells while sparing healthy hematopoietic compartments.
